Let's Talk about
Sexism in Photography
A great number of female photographers face sexism in the industry. The purpose of this project is to make-known some of the struggles that they go through, so that one day female photographers around the world are able to work in a place that practices equality and prioritises safety.

In conjunction with my Final Year Project, I have decided to create a short silent film based on the topic mentioned above. Silent films are known to bring a bigger impact towards audiences, hence why I chose this idea as my approach to raise awareness on the issue.
What is "bloom" about?
You may have heard of the familiar saying - "Bloom where you are planted", but if you were planted in an unsuitable area, you will not grow at all. Plants need proper sunlight, soil, water and fertilizers to grow beautifully, and so do people like us. In order to become the best version of ourselves, we need to surround ourselves with people who sees our value and encourages us to shoot for the stars.

"Bloom" talks about Monica Hagen, who is a young female photographer that wants her company to publish some of the photographs that she took. Despite liking her works, Monica's boss decided that Andrew Carter, one of his best male photographers, was the better option to boost their company's reputation, especially when times were tough during the pandemic. They proceeded to publish a similar photograph behind Monica's back, which caused her to become furious. Realising she was not treated right, Monica leaves the company, and that's when she meets another female photographer - Charlotte.
